West Palm Beach Florida 1988

We were leading the race, when the stop watch said the car should have come and gone.  ESPN was broadcasting live so when we turned around we saw the car fully engulfed in flames on one of the display monitors in the pits.  The car burned to the ground.  Fire fighters made sure the fire was out and gave us plenty of corrosive dry chemical to take home.  Aluminum just doesn't get along with the dry chemical, corrosion starts right away.   Fire damage was extensive.   After the race people actually came up and asked if this was the car that burned.  We just pulled the carpet over the top and walked away.

Here is the body ready to go back on the rebuilt chassis just in time for our home race in Portland.  We had fun with the paint, we just followed what we imagined the air looked like going over the car.  The only way it could of looked better would be to have painted it red with Coca-Cola on the side.
